The Division of Cardiology at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center welcomes Angela Sharkey, MD, Pediatric Cardiologist at Cardinal Glennon and Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Sharkey previously held the positions of Professor of Pediatric Cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine and Director of the Fetal Cardiac Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Sharkey is pleased to be returning to Cardinal Glennon where she completed her Pediatric residency. "The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Glennon has a long-standing tradition of clinical excellence," she says. "Under the leadership of Dr. Ken Schowengerdt, the Division has continued to grow. My interests and expertise dovetail nicely with the talents of the other members of the Division."

Dr. Sharkey’s primary focus is fetal echocardiography and the care of complex congenital heart disease. She also has completed extensive research on Marfan Syndrome and is considered an expert on the disorder.

In the last decade, Dr. Sharkey has been recognized by Best Doctors, Inc. with eight nominations (2002-2009) and Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of America’s Top Cardiologists in 2007, 2008 and 2010.

 

 

Ann Marie Flannery, MD

The Department of Neurosurgery at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center is proud to welcome back Ann Marie Flannery, MD, Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Cardinal Glennon and Professor of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Dr. Flannery practiced at Cardinal Glennon from 2003-2008 until moving back to her hometown of Chicago, where she held the position of Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center. In 2010, Dr. Flannery returned to the Cardinal Glennon team.

With more than 20 years experience in neurosurgery, Dr. Flannery says her main focus is to enhance the care of children in all neurosurgical areas including brain tumor, head trauma, hydrocephalus and congenital spine. Much of her clinical research involves traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Flannery received her American Board of Neurosurgery certification in 1991 and her American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery certification in 1997. She was recertified by the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery in 2007.

Dr. Flannery is currently seeing patients at SSM Cardinal Glennon and SSM St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Mo. In addition, Dr. Flannery provides prenatal counseling at the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute at Cardinal Glennon, the only comprehensive fetal care center in middle America.
