Cardinal Glennon Welcomes Interventional Cardiologist Saar Danon, MD

(Dr. Danon evaluates 5-year-old Xavier Jones, who has AV canal and Down syndrome, before his cardiac catheterization.)

Q&A with Dr. Saar Danon, Interventional Cardiologist at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine

Q: What made you want to join the Cardiology Division at Cardinal Glennon?

A: I was looking to join a program that was more leading-edge. I was impressed by the growth and improvement of Cardinal Glennon’s cardiac catheterization program and involvement and support of Division Director Dr. Kenneth Schowengerdt and Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Andrew Fiore. This is an opportunity to help further develop the existing cath program and work with an excellent, established Interventional Cardiology specialist like Dr. Saadeh Jureidini.

Q: What are your goals while practicing at Cardinal Glennon?

A: My goal is to continue to provide excellent care to increase the number of children we can help through cath and surgical procedures, and perform new and improved catheter-based interventions. I also will resume my animal research to develop new transcatheter procedures and devices, as well as clinical research of stent angioplasty in small children.

Q: What do you want community pediatricians to know of how you will treat their patients?

A: I will do my best to treat every patient with the best possible care, the same type of care I would give my own children. And, I will make every effort to keep the primary care physician informed of their patient’s status.
