Dr. Scalzo is the Director of Toxicology at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center and the Division Director for Toxicology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He is also a Professor of Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
 
Dr. Scalzo served as the Medical Director of the Missouri Poison Center for 28 years and is the Medical Director of the PACTS for Life/PALS course at Saint Louis University and SSM Cardinal Glennon. He directs medical student simulation education for Pediatrics Clerkships at SSM Cardinal Glennon. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Medical Toxicology and the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology.

    - Synthetic drugs and marijuana
    - Lead poisoning
    - Antivenom for snake envenomation
    - Simulation Medicine
    - Disaster and Emergency Preparedness
