Fetal Myelomeningocele Repair Surgery: What To Expect

Step 1: Give Us A Call

If your unborn baby has been diagnosed with Myelomeningocele (MMC), we are here to help. Our goal is to educate you about the diagnosis so that you can make an informed decision that is best for you and your family.

When you call the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute you will talk with one of our nurses who will provide information about the diagnosis of MMC, prenatal consultation, and fetal surgery. She will talk through your unique medical situation and discuss the eligibility requirements for the surgery.

With every MMC fetal evaluation, a day of consultations and non-invasive tests are planned at the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute located at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Prior to your appointment, we will gather medical records, amniocentesis results and other information from your doctor. If you have not had an amniocentesis, this can be scheduled with your physician prior to coming or during your visit.
