Kathy Keenoy is a care coordinator for the Footprints department, a program at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center for any family / child dealing with a complex medical illness. She meets with families prenatally at the Fetal Care Institute, then stays in contact with them after the birth, serving as an advocate and providing an added level of support to families whose babies require special medical attention.
Prior to becoming a Footprints coordinator, Kathy was a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) nurse at Cardinal Glennon for more than 27 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University.
“I have always loved babies and children, and now find it rewarding to help families cope with their child’s potential diagnosis while they are seen in the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute.” Kathy encourages families to make a list of questions and feel free to express any fears or emotions they are experiencing.
“I believe all life is sacred and precious and I feel honored to help care for some of God’s smallest people. It gives me much pleasure to help families celebrate their baby in the womb and plan for their arrival into the world,” says Kathy.
When she is not helping families at the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute Kathy enjoys creating scrapbooks, taking pictures, preparing and sending care packages to her three college age children and out of town family, watching a good romantic comedy, and listening to Christian music. She also loves spending time with her husband of more than 20 years.
