Since 2003, Jenny Kaiser has been serving the patients of SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. She has been an SSM nurse since 2004, serving in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as a nurse, charge nurse, and member of the ECMO Team.
Because of her experience in the neonatal setting, caring for babies that require a higher level of care and working with families, she says, “I was especially drawn to the innovation of the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute and the services it offers mother’s-to-be faced with a high-risk pregnancy.”
In 2011, she made the move from a SSM Network Education Consultant, providing specialized NICU/ Special Care Nursery nursing education to all six of the SSM St. Louis Region hospitals, to the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute where she regularly meets with clinic patients as a liaison between the specialists at Cardinal Glennon and the patients prenatal care provider.
“As a member of the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute Team, I have an opportunity to connect with our families and enhance their prenatal experience. I am fortunate and often times humbled by their strength when dealing with healthcare issues they had not anticipated. During my career in the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute, I have been fascinated by the collaboration and efficiency of our multi-disciplinary team. To work alongside such brilliant and compassionate physicians is also truly rewarding,” she says.
“Knowing I have been able to make your situation a bit better, even on difficult days, when the circumstances are far from perfect, is what this job is all about,” explains Jenny.
Jenny received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville School of Nursing, and recently received her certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing from the National Certification Corporation. Jenny is an avid traveler, enjoys outdoor activities such as running and cycling, especially with her husband, Matthew and daughter, Natalie. She also enjoys photography and sewing.
