Cleveland Jr. Naval Academy (NJROTC)

Cleveland Jr. Naval Academy is a public, military high school located in St. Louis. Founded in 1981, the school is currently the second largest naval academy in the country, behind only the United States Naval Academy.

The school is a magnet high school created to support the voluntary desegregation program between the city and county of St. Louis. Cleveland serves a student body that is approximately 54% black, 44% White, 1% Asian and 1% Hispanic/Other. Qualifying applicants to the school are selected through a lottery; every student at the school is there by his/her choice. All Cleveland students are cadets in the Naval Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NJROTC) program. Uniforms are provided by the Navy and worn five days a week.

Since 1995, seven Cleveland graduates have accepted appointments to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; three others have accepted appointments to the United States Coast Guard Academy. Seventeen additional graduates have been accepted into the ROTC/NROTC at public and private universities.
