PALS is the result of a collaboration between the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics. PACTS for Life is a pediatric trauma and cardiorespiratory support course created by Dr. Anthony Scalzo in conjunction with staff at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center. These courses are combined to offer the health care provider the latest and most comprehensive curriculum available.

American Heart Association PALS Guidelines Update
Because cardiovascular and respiratory care is a dynamic science, periodically guidelines are changed to reflect the most recent studies. The present PALS course textbooks are in the process of being updated with the new AHA guidelines, however, the PACTS/PALS courses cover these new recommendations now. Course Objective
The course is designed to provide caregivers with skills which will enable them to both recognize the potential for respiratory and/or cardiac arrest in infants and children, and intervene in an appropriate manner by providing a systematic approach to these patients.

Intended Audience
Pediatricians, house staff, emergency physicians, family physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who are responsible for the well-being of infants and children.

PALS Online Course
As of October 31, 2006, PALS Online is no longer available for purchase. If you have purchased the course prior to this date, you will have until Dec. 31, 2006 to complete the online portion. Please direct customer service questions/issues to AHA Customer Service at (888) 242-2453.
