To ensure that children in West County have quick, close to home access to pediatric surgery specialists, surgeons from SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and Saint Louis University School of Medicine are now performing surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield.
The SSM Cardinal Glennon surgical team specializes in minimally-invasive surgeries. This technique utilizes the latest laparoscopic equipment to make incisions no bigger than a keyhole. Minimally invasive surgery means a lot less scarring and a much quicker recovery from surgery; which means kids getting back to being kids, faster!
The surgery team is led by Dr. Dennis Vane, Surgeon-in-Chief, and includes pediatric surgeons Dr. Richard Bower, Dr. Kaveer Chatoorgoon, Dr. Colleen Fitzpatrick and Dr. Jose Greenspon. Our surgeons have received extensive training and education in pediatric surgery so that children have access to the best possible care team.
“We’re excited to have our pediatric surgeons partnering with St. Luke’s Hospital’s pediatric division,” said SSM Cardinal Glennon president Sherlyn Hailstone. “The pediatric surgery surgical coverage will allow the St Luke’s pediatricians the option to provide services close to home in a familiar environment. This can help alleviate some of the stress that naturally comes along with a child having to undergo a surgery. Together with a great institution like St. Luke’s Hospital, we’re able to continue to treat the child and care for the whole family through our exceptional pediatric services.”
Surgeries and outpatient appointments with SSM Cardinal Glennon surgeons at St. Luke’s Hospital take place on Mondays, and can be scheduled by calling 314-576-2080.
