The Critical Care Medicine Department is on call 24 hours a day to provide Level 1 trauma care to seriously ill patients and improve the care of future patients through education and research efforts.
Our team provides care in several areas of the hospital:
Our role in the PICU centers around state-of-the-art respiratory and heart pressure/flow management of critically ill children. We are also involved in the care of children recovering from complex heart procedures and organ transplants.
Many children come to our Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center via ambulance, helicopter or even fixed-wing aircraft wtih our Pediatric and Neonatal Transport Team. The transport team consists of specially trained neonatal and pediatric nurses, respiratory therapists, EMS and physicians.
Watch videos about How the Body Works and learn more about your child's health in our KidsHealth library and resource center.
