Welcome to the Pediatric Audiology Department at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.
The Audiology Department at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center is currently developing a Hearing Aid Program which is projected to begin in the near future.
If we detect that a certain hearing loss requires the use of hearing aids, our Audiologists will:
Counsel your family about the hearing loss and its implications.
Refer your child to our ear, nose and throat (ENT) department
for evaluation and to obtain medical clearance for hearing aids.
Conduct a hearing aid evaluation. The hearing aid evaluation
is a time to discuss various hearing aid options and select a
device that is appropriate for your child and his or her hearing
loss
Fit the hearing aid. Your child will receive his or her hearing
aid at this appointment and your family will be taught how to
use and care for the hearing aid.
Direct your child’s family to programs of assistance when
appropriate.
Monitor your child’s hearing loss.
Provide hearing aid checks to be certain that the hearing aid is
functioning properly and is still appropriate for your child’s
hearing loss.
