Initial Visit Expectations for Eating Disorders 
 
 
 
Welcome to the Adolescent Medicine Department at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.


You and your child will register at the front desk of our Ambulatory Care Center (2nd floor). Here is what your child can expect during the visit:

 Urine sample taken at start of the visit

 Weight results kept confidential

 Orthostatic blood pressure and heart rates performed while lying,
      sitting and standing

 Interviewed with parent by a physician or pediatric nurse practitioner. 
     Please allow 2-3 hours for initial interview.

Recommendations will be provided following interview and physical exam.  If hospitalization is prescribed for medical stabilization, it will occur directly after this appointment. The length of hospitalization varies, but tends to average 14 days.
